Who the hell is hatto‽ | keep dnzng

Hey! This is your host hatto. and today I'm introducing you to my blog. I have been thinking about this since 2014 (even before I started making videos) but I took a step back since I didn't have a good english level at that point, nor I was able to focus enough to write. But I think I am now, so, without further ado, welcome to:

My written blog and my personal space for some interesting things that I want to talk about. So for my first entry I will tell you about me, who am I and what I do.

I'm not gonna say I'm somebody exceptional, or hyper talented, but I love what I do, whether it is the videos or the music, and so I give the best of me.

I was born in San José, Costa Rica on July 21, 2000. I had a nice childhood, but all the juicy part started when I got into music. I was 8. I was at a parade with my family and the local governor started talking about SiNEM (National Musical Education System), for its acronym in Spanish ''sistema nacional de eduación musical''.  I applied for it, started on September 2008 and the rest is history. I learned music to an advanced level, learned to play the tuba, the violoncello, the drumset, and of course a lot of music theory.

In 2013 I started highschool, and discovered Daft Punk. I was amazed, and I can say that was my first important contact with electronic music. (Even tho I previously listened to songs like Blue by Eiffel 65 or Barbra Streisand by Duck Sauce, but I was unaware of the genre)

I kept listening to other electronic music genres thanks to my friends. Genres like big room and progressive house. In 2014 I started learning how to DJ by myself and in 2015 I started playing some gigs. On 2015 I started making videos on youtube and opened my social media accounts. In 2016 I started making my own electronic music, turning from Festival EDM to Future House, Deep House, Tech House and Liquid Funk. Later on 2017 I started making hip hop and trap beats, but I abandoned my youtube vlogs on an undefined hiatus.

On 2017 I also started a duo with my best friend Marvin (a.k.a. Marvax back then) called ''Marvlax'' (Marvax + Blaxonk!, my old name), what later evolved and became ''Rainbow Wolvez'', and Marvin is now ''HeyOslo''

I got out of highschool at the end of 2017 and on January 2018 I released my debut album: Kiwi, at least as Blaxonk! I recently rebranded (yes, I edited this entry) so I don't really have a debut album out yet as hatto.)

On march 2018 I started university (here in Costa Rica we go straight into Uni, we don't have a college as itself) but dropped out on June that same year, cause I knew I was unhappy with what I was majoring, and I was stealing time from myself that I could be using on music.
Since I had a nice english level by then I started working at a call center (that will remain unnamed but let's just say it was a great school but a horrible job, underpaid, depending almost completely on scammish sales, and one of the worst places here in CR). I quit on December 26, 2018; and started looking for something new.

Back then I was focused on making music and finding a new job; so just to start my 2019 the right way I moved to my grandma's house on December 31, 2018. I got hired on a new, better paid and nice new company, and I worked there since Jan. 24th 2019 until April 12th 2021, (then I moved to my current company, same, as a call center agent.)

So there at the end of 2019, I decided to start making videos again, I saved money, and bought equipment. A new laptop, a DSLR camera, a desk and a DJ mixer. I've been adding pieces of equipment to my inventory. Using my Xmas special 2019 as a comeback, I started again on youtube:

Sure. I tried to make a joke writing ''fishes'' instead of ''fish'' and I ended up looking like an idiot since that plural is used in very specific situations only. (I knew it but I still look like a fool). What a way to come back! *sad laugh*

Oh, also, back in 2016 I created a second channel called ''Blaxonk! Studios'' to upload some projects I was doing for other youtubers. I abandoned it as well.
Then on 2018 I met Colombian DJ and Producer ''Blerxzs'' and we decided to start a channel to upload music from other small and rather unknown artists. I picked up blaxonk studios from the chest and privated all the old videos, created a logo, new design and some social media accounts. That's how ''NO MIND'' came into life. (And now I am also planning on a rebrand for it, geez...)

Later on,  Blerxzs abandoned the project and I carried it on my own. Back on July 2019 I expanded NO MIND along with other friends, so we started playing gigs. You can see this at https://www.instagram.com/nomindrecords/ . They have been such an amazing team to work with, and I hope we keep moving forward troughout the years.

On October 1st, I started my Mixcloud radio show: DNZFLR, and that's where my slogan ''keep dnzng'' was born. That profile is now abandoned but you can still access the episodes here: https://www.mixcloud.com/blaxonk/

Even tho I knew I was not a great singer I started voicing the songs I had been writing since 2015. These are the acoustic songs you can see on my youtube channel: ''Mirarte en la Mañana'', ''Alma de León'' and ''Over You''. I learned to play the Ukulele by myself on 2019.

UPDATE: I am editing this today, November 25th, 2021. 2 days ago I rebranded everything and changed my name to hatto. It's been a fun time trying to get everything lined up, and I realized I had to update you here a little.

And that's pretty much what I have done since I'm a kid. Chosing to live as a Musician, DJ and Producer was a difficult decision to make, but I won't step back now. I'm already studying Italian and I'll start Dutch in a couple more years so I can move to Europe in a close future. I'm happy with what I'm doing and I hope this blog brings something good to my already existing channels. If you made it all the way here, thanks for reading, have a nice night, and keep dnzng!
